Having established that External Data is important, it is vital to point out how difficult and time intensive it is to obtain the right kind of data today. In fact, a recent a scientific study found, that experienced data scientist’s judgments on the relevancy of a given data source is roughly as accurate as a coin-toss!
Given, that data first needs to be obtained and pre-processed before its value is quantifiable, misjudgements on what external data to acquire can be very costly.
